When you take part in the Blind Veterans UK raffle, your tickets could provide blind ex-Service men and women with the rehabilitation, training, practical advice and emotional support they need to rebuild their lives.

Since 1915, Blind Veterans UK has been providing blind and vision-impaired veterans of all generations with the free services they need to lead full and independent lives. No matter when they served or how they lost their sight, blind veterans can receive lifetime support.

Matt served in the RAF for 12 years, including a tour in Afghanistan. His eyesight began gradually deteriorating due to his diabetes. He underwent surgery in an attempt to restore his vision, but tragically, it caused damage to his optic nerve, leaving him with only 8% vision in one eye.

Being registered blind was truly devastating for Matt. But after receiving support from Blind Veterans UK, he began learning how to adapt. Slowly, his confidence started to rebuild, and he received support on his journey back into employment.

Today, Matt cooks for his young family using adaptive cooking equipment. He also navigates around independently with his white cane.

“The support is phenomenal,” Matt says.
